Nymohomaniac è il nuovo film del regista danese Lars Von Trier con:

Charlotte Gainsbourg, Stellan Skarsgård, Shia LaBeouf, Christian Slater, Willem Dafoe, Udo Kier, Jamie Bell, Uma Thurman, Connie Nielsen, Jesper Christensen, Jean-Marc Barr, Caroline Goodall, Kate Ashfield e Saskia Reeves.

Nella storia un uomo di nome Seligman, interpretato da Stellan Skarsgard, raccoglie una donna picchiata e contusa in un vicolo, Joe. Mentre l'accudisce a casa, Joe gli racconta in otto capitoli la sua vita, dalla nascita ai cinquant'anni, autodiagnosticandosi come ninfomane. The Nymphomaniac è stato diviso in due parti: la prima riguardante l'età giovanile e l'adolescenza della protagonista, la seconda la sua maturità. Il film uscirà in due versioni una soft e una hard.

Nymphomaniac rappresenta la terza collaborazione tra Lars von Trier e Charlotte Gainsbourg dopo Antichrist (2009) e Melancholia (2011). Per Stellan Skarsgar invece è la quinta volta con il regista danese, che l'aveva già diretto nelle Onde del destino, Dancer in the Dark, Dogville e Melancholia. Seconda collaborazione invece con la star Nicole Kidman dopo Dogville.

The shot, in which a topless Gainsbourg is being embraced by two half-naked men, should further whet the appetite of von Trier fans for his erotic epic.
Gainsbourg stars in Nymphomaniac as Joe, a 50-year-old self-diagnosed nymphomaniac looking back at her erotic life. The film, which also stars Stellan Skarsgard, Shia LaBeouf, Jamie Bell, Uma Thurman and Willem Dafoe, is planned as two full-length features and will be released in both soft- and hard-core versions.
But Peter Aalbæk Jensen, speaking to THR at the Berlin International Film Festival, said von Trier's first rough cut of the film was seven and a half hours long. "It's almost enough for three films, and it's all good. I don't know what we'll cut," Jensen said.
Sales group TrustNordisk will give buyers at the European Film Market in Berlin a first taste of Nymphomaniac with a closed screening of a promo for the film.
